I was approached by Arcade Corp. to take the design they already had in place and using flash create a site that was both simple and dynamic. The starting point for the interaction animations was the firstborn multimedia site which is totally awesome.
I wanted to use create some subtle fades and animations of text sliding in to place with scaling text and colour indicating selected items. The other thing about the site that is not obvious is that the entire site uses xml files for configuration and content. This allows the client to make changes to the copy text as well as make menu changes without needs any knowledge of flash.
So please take a few minutes and check it out.
Well into the second year of his PhD in the department of Linquistics at the University of Toronto Paul Arsenault had been maintaining a small web site to publish his research and some personal information. I as a good friend offered to design a new site that would be easy to update and nice to look at.
After finding enough spare hours I was able to come up with a design that Paul approved and so I put together a Dreamweaver template and transfered all the content from his existing site into the new one.
The site launch mid-January 2007.
Key Features:
- Template Driven
- Easily Edited using Contribute
For this project I took their already complete page layouts and married them with the typo3 content management system to deliver a web site that empowers Stone Church to delegate content duties and at the same time give them a complete system to communicate the churches programs and vision to their local community and their membership.
The typo3 CMS allowed me to quickly integrate their design and integrate an event calendar and the necessary communication and feedback forms that allow them to have a effective presence on the web.
The key features are:
- Template Driven
- Event Calendar
- Back-end User Access Management
This is a re-design for the documentary film to coincide with the release of the DVD and the first of many broadcasts on the California PBS-affiliate KQED.
The new site cleaned up the navigation and pushed the trailer, news and broadcast dates up to the front page of the site. It also provides a new flash video gallery to let viewers watch short clips from the final documentary as well as a flash photo viewer with historical photos.
The site uses Dreamweaver templates and Contribute for updating and Flash for streaming video and the photo gallery.
Physio-Logic provides neurological and physiotherapy services in the Toronto area. For this project I was asked to update the design of the site to reflect the company's new branding assets as well as re-organize the information providing room for new information.
In the new site I have implemented a contact form that delivers the messages to a general mailbox where the messages are further distributed to a therapist if necessary. This was done to keep spam bots from collecting staff e-mail address'.
The site also utilizes Adobe Dreamweaver templates which will allow Physio-Logic to edit and add content to the site themselves instead of relying on a web-developer for rudimentary changes and edits to the site.
The Sharing Place is a food bank serving Orillia and the surrounding district. The purpose for the site is to help promote the food bank and the services it offers to the people who currently support it and to encourage new support from the community.
The design is based on their pre-existing logo/letterhead. I decided to go with a simpler mono-chromatic colour scheme using the tones of green from the logo. The layout is a two-column, with left side-bar and a main content column. Within the main content column there are two layouts. The first has top permanent links and banner graphic with a two-column content area with information, news, events and membership/sponsorship space. In the rest of the site the two-column layout is replaced with a single column for content.
Advance Health provides Psychological services in the greater Toronto area. This is what I call a brochure site since its primary purpose is to give the viewer information about the company, its services and location.
The design was based on their exisitng brochure so they would have a continuity of marketing material. A major feature of the site is the Contact & Map page that contains detailed driving and walking directions with printer friendly pages.
Galloping Gallagher's is a personal blog site for Peter and Tracy Gallagher. This is a custom blogger.com template designed specifically for them.
There are two unique features to this site. The first is the random header image. The second is a custom flash photo viewer that uses php servier-side scripting and xml to show pictures and descriptions during their year of travels during 2004-2005.
